Low VHF Panel Antenna for 54-88 MHz

Model: PA11-SDP - Straight Dipole Panel Antenna

The PA11-SDP is a horizontally polarized panel antenna covering the low VHF band from 54-88 MHz. The antenna is manufactured, tuned, and supplied on a per channel basis for any of the low VHF channels (Ch 2, Ch 3, Ch 4, Ch 5 or Ch 6). Each bay of the PA11-SDP features two discrete panel antennas that are tuned to operate together, producing ideal return loss values and very low VSWR. The PA11-SDP is a straight dipole low VHF panel antenna, making this antenna ideal to mount around the tower or support structure every 90 degrees for optimum pattern linearity and smoothness. The antenna is composed of stainless steel and/or hot-dipped galvanized steel with the front radiating elements shipped disassembled from the rear panel to reduce shipping volume, thus minimal on-site assembly is required.

The antenna is tuned for a VSWR of less than 1.10:1 across any 6 MHz channel in the low VHF band. The addition of multiple antennas stacked both vertically (one on top of another) and horizontally (multiple panels oriented around the tower) increase coverage and gain of the array.

The rear reflector on the PA11-SDP sheilds the active dipoles from any influence on impedance that adjacent metal behind the panel creates, such as the mounting structure or tower. The reflector panel, in effect, isolates any metal behind it from the active dipoles, thus greatly reducing the passive impedance effect that the mounting structure has on the active dipoles and the antenna array in general. In addition to providing shielding from the mounting structure, the panel reflector provides gain and directivity of the forward lobe, giving the broadcaster greater control and efficiency by broadcasting the signal where it is most needed and away from where it is not through the flexibility that panel antennas create by being modular toward the finalized coverage pattern.
